Many companies begin using and testing Salesforce by entering employee information. Generally, the best practice is to remove these and only have external businesses into Salesforce record data.
However, it may be a requirement of the workflow to maintain these internal email addresses in Leads or Contacts. To avoid having every email sent or received by that employee subsequently matched to their Salesforce record, an ignore rule should be created to ignore matching for your company’s email domain.
