How to update your IMAP email password

If you change your email account password or enable multi-factor authentication and you use an IMAP connection for Match My Email, then that connection will break.  You or your account Admin should receive an alert from our system that you need to update your IMAP password.

If your Match My Email account has a blue menu bar at the top showing Email Cloud, Imports, Ignores, and Settings, you have an older MME interface and should skip to the IMAP-authenticating Accounts section below.

In these accounts, an Admin may choose to do the steps for the End User or simply confirm the User but ask the End User to sign in and enter their own email password.  However the initial setup was handled, that will continue to be the way passwords are updated.  The steps below are when an End User signed in to enter their own password.

1 – Sign in to Match My Email by clicking the web tab in Salesforce (or through the Lightning App Launcher).  An alternative way to sign in is to navigate to www.matchmyemail.com and clicking Login. Choose correct portal – US(Rest of the World) or EU – and click the Sign in with Salesforce button.  Proceed through screens to Allow access.

2 – Once signed in to the Email Cloud, click the Settings button at top right (middle button) and choose Control Panel in drop window.

3 – Click on Imports in the left menu. Click on the import’s name and in details for the import, click the Edit button (pen tool at the top).

4 – In the password field, enter the current email password and click Refresh Folders. If you have multi-factor authentication, you will need to create an app specific password in your email account and then use that as your password.

5 – Click Save at the top.

6 – Return to the Email Cloud view. To confirm imports will resume and password entered is correct, click the Import Now button.

If you still have errors or a lack of connection, contact our support team.

3 – Click on the name of the import (do not just check the box).

4 – Once you have the import settings open, please update your new password in the password field box.  If you have multi-factor authentication, you will need to create an app specific password in your email account and use that as your password here. Click Save and then Start Import manually to check that it is working. Wait for import to complete and you have successfully updated your Email password.
